ECE 110 Spring 2022 Calendar

The yellow highlights below tell you what your current lab focus should be.

There is no face-to-face lab meeting in Week 1. Don't go to lab. No one is there.

You need to order your kit in Week 1.

You have until February 4 to report any issues with your kit contents.

Week Task Resources Comments

1 January 18-22 Week 1 has moved online for all University of Illinois courses due to caution regarding COVID.

Prelab: Order your ECE110 Electronics Kit. Order Window: Jan 17 - Jan 21

In-Lab: No in-person meeting in Week 1. We wish to keep labs on a Monday-Friday track for easier organization.

Lecture: Important content is covered in this first lecture. Please be present.

Homework: Posted. Due in Week 2.

You are responsible for knowing the Absence and Late-Submission Policy
Each homework is a divided assignment.
The PrairieLearn portion is generally numeric-short-answer and auto-graded.
The GradeScope portion is two questions where the grade is dependent not upon your answer, but your ability to provide a detailed solution.

Week Task Resources Comments

5 February 13-19

Prelab: You may have noticed that the RC time constant (2.2 RC) does not give the exact period of oscillation for your circuit. Why not? Here is an extra-credit exercise on Oscillator Analysis [.pdf] [.docx] that explores the charging and discharging cycles of the capacitor taking into account the upper and lower threshold values of the Schmitt Trigger.

In-Lab:
  • Every student must come to lab prepared by completing all prelab activities. Unprepared students will lose points.

  • If you must miss lab for any reason, you need to notify your TA as soon as possible (before lab!) to minimize the likelihood of points lost. TA contact link is at the Home page of Canvas.

  • Cloud Detector[.pdf] [.docx]
Submit GradeScope after lab:
