Final Exam Information

 

The Final Exam for this course is now open on on SmartPhysics. All students (including those who originally signed up for "special conflict exams") can take the exam on SmartPhysics at a time of their choosing, with the only time restriction being that it closes at 5 pm CT on Friday May 15. For students who took the Friday May 8 "default exam," they may be done with the exam, or can take the new and available "conflict" exam if they would like (in this case, it will automatically replace their score from 5/8).

To access the available Final Exam, simple go to SmartPhysics and the course titled "Physics 211 Spring 2020 Final (conflict)" and there will be an assignment labeled "CONFLICT Final - Sp20."

This closed-notes (i.e., only the fomula sheet and your calculator are allowed) cumulative Final Exam will have 46 physics questions.

 

In addition to your regular "practice exams," we have now put a short example exam to help you get familiar with the Final Exam Format. This can be found at SmartPhysics. In the course "Physics 211 Spring 2020 Practice Exams," this assignment will show up as "Final Exam Format" on the calendar view -- open 4 pm Monday May 4, deadline of Friday May 8 at 1 pm, feedback on Wednesday May 6 at 12 pm. Note that the real exam will have a restricted time window, roughly 3 hours.

The following previous exams will help you prepare for the final exam.

Exams

Review the course schedule for the exam dates.

Exam room assignments are made based on the student's discussion section. Attendance is taken by discussion section teaching assistants.

To each exam bring:

Exam scores will be posted in the student gradebook.

Conflict Exams

Conflict exams will be scheduled for those with a documented University schedule conflict.

Be sure to check your student gradebook for available conflict exam times.

Hour Exams

Three 90 minute multiple-choice exams will be administered.

Each exam is worth 100 points.

This course administers combined hour exams in the evening. This is done in accordance with University policy as described in: Article 3, Part 2. Section 3-202 covering Evening, Midterm and Hourly Examinations of the Student Code.

Students are expected to take the regularly scheduled hour exams.

In accordance with University policy, conflict examinations will be administered for students with the following conflict types (from the Student Code):

  1. Other examinations, including special examinations, scheduled at a prior date.
  2. Regularly scheduled performances or rehearsals.
  3. Regularly scheduled classes, including kinesiology and military.
  4. Sickness, regular employment, or other extenuating circumstances.

Final Exam

The final exam will be three hours in length and will cover material from the whole semester.

The final exam is worth 200 points.

A combined final exam (for all three lectures) and a conflict exam will be administered.
