Homework

Guided problem sets

This semester, there wil be no graded homework. Instead, there will be a series of autograded Guided Problem Sets will be released throughout the semester via PraireLearn.

ATTRIBUTION: The GPS are a subset of problems designed Jeff Erickson, Carl Evans, Yael Gertner, Brad Solomon & team as part of the TheorieLearn project.

These assignments are designed to help you practice and reinforce the concepts covered in class. It is highly recommended that you complete them to enhance your understanding of the material. You will get unlimited attempts to submit your solutions (up until submission deadline), so these are practically speaking, free points that only require you to put in the time to work through the problems.

To encourage you to complete them, the GPS will be worth 14% of your final grade. For your own benefit, we highly recommend that you complete all of the GPS assignments on your own (no AI).

¹: The first one is actually due 9/3 to account for add/drops in first week but you should still try to complete it as soon as possible to prepare for the first quiz.

Ungraded homework assignments

A collection of past homework assignments and their solutions will be provided below. Credit is due, of course to their original authors (see Attribution in Lecture page).

In typical fashion, we will release the solutions only after the due date. This is to encourage you to try and solve the problems. You may use AI/LLM on these, subject to course policy. However, course staff will not be grading these assignments. You can of course, seek guidance from course staff to help solve them or understand the solutions.
