Exams

Grading

Exams constitute 66% of the course grade. There will be a total of four exams. Three non-cumulative exams, called midterms, will be held during class time. An optional cumulative final exam will be held according to the final exam schedule determined by the registrar. Each counted exam (midterm or final) will carry 22% of the course grade (i.e the lowest of the four exam scores will be dropped). For the same reason, there will be no make-up exams. If you miss an exam, it will be counted as your dropped exam.

Re-grades: Exam grades will be released on Gradescope. You may request a regrade within seven days of the date the grades were released.

Format & policy

All exams are individual assesments and are closed-book (except reference sheets – see below), paper-based, and administered in class during the usual lecture time. Usage of electronic/digital devices (including calculators, phones, smart watches, AI, etc.) is not allowed. Collaboration with other students is not allowed.

ImportantWARNING

Violations of the above standards will be considered academic misconduct and will result in a loss of 1.5x the midterm score (i.e. 33% of course grade) and being reported to the university.

There will be no conflict exams. The exam-drop policy is there to accommodate circumstances leading to extension requests. Please do not email the staff with any conflict exam requests.

Accomodations

Students needing accomodations should make TAC reservations for the below listed dates. All TAC adminstered exams must take place on the same day as the main exam and TAC exams should, in most cases, be scheduled to start before 1100 hrs. We highly suggest you do this right away (i.e. NOW as you read this). If you get your letter afterwards, you should make reservations for exams at least two weeks in advance of the midterms (ideally as soon you get the letter).

TAC reservations for the Final Exam must be made by Oct 30. After this date, TAC will not guarantee accommodations. Please make your TAC reservation as soon as possible, whether or not you intend to take the final exam. We highly suggest that you set a reminder for Oct 30 right away (i.e. NOW as you read this).
