- For Lab
Every student will need to have access to a recent Windows or Mac computer and to an IOLab device in order to do the prelab activities (done before every lab in your apartment or dorm room), and to design and perform experiments during your weekly lab class.
There are several ways that you can get your IOLab device:- Students from last semester may be selling them. All red IOLab devices are the same, so don't worry if they aren't called "Version 2".
- Macmillan has an online store, set up specifically for U of I, at https://store.macmillanlearning.com/us/storefront/201801085.
- Macmillan has a rental program that will allow you to get a device for one or two semesters. If you ever have any questions or concerns their help number is (800) 936-6899.
- When deciding how to get your IOLab, keep in mind that you use the same device in Physics 102.
It is fine to share your IOLab with a friend as long as you can arrange things so that you can work on the prelabs by yourself and also bring the device to your lab class every week.
If you are buying or renting a device on-line you should do this as soon as possible since shipping can take 6-8 days.
