In addition to the required DSP and probability pre-requisites, the papers that we will read sometimes assume other types of background knowledge. That knowledge will be covered in slides, but some of you may want to learn it in more depth. If you do, here are recommendations.

• Background for the Fletcher & Munson article * Kinsler, Frey, Coppens & Sanders, Fundamentals of Acoustics, 2000

• Background Dudley, Licklider, and Atal: any of these four books. I recommend the fourth one most.
