Latex

Students are highly recommended to use LaTeX for writing their lab reports. Starting with LaTeX can be quite hard so we produced a quick LaTeX guide and a package that contains a LaTeX guide and a report template to get you started. Please make sure you read through the LaTeX guide before attempting to start you report. XCircuit is the preferred tool for generating schematic figures.

• LaTeX distribution

• Windows: MiKTeX
• Mac: MacTeX
• Ubuntu/Debian: Tex Live: Use apt-get install texlive-full
• Other Linux: TeX Live: Search for TeX Live and your Linux distribution

• LaTeX editor: TeXmaker

Software recommended:

• Excel table to Latex: excel2latex
• OpenOffice Spreadsheet table to Latex: calc2latex
• Drawing and annotation: Inkscape
• Circuit drawing: XCircuit
• Reference management: JabRef
