Syllabus

Prerequisites

ECE 210

ECE 329 (concurrent registration is allowed)

Highly recommended: ECE 340 (concurrent registration is acceptable). A student who takes ECE 342 prior to ECE 340 may master the mechanics of circuit design but will not understand the "whys" or the non-idealities, almost all of which relate to the transistors used to design circuits.

Class Meetings:

MWF 11:00 AM – 11:50 AM, BURRILL HALL 124

Weekly Problem Solving Session (Optional):

F 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM, 260 EL

Textbook: A. Sedra and K. Smith, Microelectronic Circuits, 6th ed., Oxford University Press, 2010.

Web Page: http://courses.engr.illinois.edu/ece342.

  • Check the web page several times per week; this is where corrections to homework assignments and office hour changes will be posted.
  • A web-based forum has been set up at: http://my.ece.illinois.edu/webboard/board.asp. This is the primary means of staff-student communication outside of lecture and office hours. The staff will monitor the web board on a daily basis and answer questions in a timely manner. Email should be reserved for questions of a highly personal nature; otherwise, students are directed to use the web board.
