Resubmission of MP1
Contrary to what we have told you, it turns out that Compass does not actually allow you
to revise the solution to an assignment after you have submitted it. This is not a weird bug (as we originally thought), but a (weird) feature.
Compass only allows you to revise your solution after the initial solution has been graded
(which is something that we don't allow in CS440).

In order to enable you to submit a revised version we have created a new assignment
("Resubmission of MP1").
You can use it to submit one revised solution to MP1.
If you do so, this will be the version that will be graded.

Late penalty
If you submitted your first solution before noon (12 pm) on Friday, Feb 18,
and you submit your revised solution by noon (12pm) on Saturday, Feb 19 (tomorrow),
we will use the time of the FIRST submission to calculate your late penalty.

Otherwise, you can still use this assignment to change your submission once,
but we will use the time of your SECOND submission to calculate your late penalty.

This assignment will be available until the end of the grace period (11:59pm on Feb 21).

[02/17/2011]
Remember: the midterm will be on March 3 in class. Please contact us at least one week in advance if you need a conflict exam or need special accommodations. If you are sick on the day of the midterm, we will request to see a doctor's notice to allow you to take the conflict exam.

The second set of problem set discussion sections will be held on:

[02/17/2011]
Homework 2 is available on Compass (under assessments, not assignments). The deadline is March 10.

[02/17/2011]
There was a problem with today's quiz (Lecture 10), so we reposted a new one at about 4pm today. If you were among the ten very fast students who had already done the earlier one, you can either resubmit, or we will grade your initial submission.

[02/08/2011]
Due to popular demand, future Compass quizzes for the Thursday lectures will be available until the next Tuesday at 2am.

[02/08/2011]
The first problem set discussion section will be held on:

Remember, you can get 1% extra credit if you show up to one of these. Each session will be 45 minutes, followed by about 15 minutes for questions about the MP. All sessions will cover the same material. You do not need to go to all four, since they will be covering the same problems. If you have questions about the MP, we will try to answer these towards the end of each hour.

Homework 1 is out!

[01/25/2011]
Sorry about the delay in getting today's quiz up and running. We're still learning how to use the Compass tools... You have until 10am on Thursday morning for this one. Thanks to those of you who have alerted us to the problem!

[01/21/2011]
For those of you who still want to register, I will collect UINs after class on Tuesday. I am afraid I will not be able to let anybody register later than that, since our class is already really, really full.

[01/20/2011]
If you want to switch between the 3-hour and the 4-hour version of the class, you need to see Kay Tomlin in the Academic Office. (Bring your laptop!). NB: Only graduate students can register for the 4-hour version.

[01/20/2011]
The class is still full, but if you gave me your name and UIN after class today, you should be able to register for class now. You have to enter the CRN (31423 or 31424) manually.

[01/19/2011]
If you have not been able to register for CS440 yet, please come and talk to me after class tomorrow.
