Welcome: August 22, 2016

Below are a few items to get you started:

• Lectures start the first week of class. Please attend at your scheduled time and location.
• There's no expensive textbook to buy. We will be using an online textbook (PDF, html).
• You will need to purchase a Turing's Craft account (about $25).
• Discussion sections start the first week of class.
• Please bring your ICARD, a writing implement, a laptop (if you have one), and some active neurons. I suggest you start downloading the development tools for your laptop before your section.
• All lectures and sections are required. CS 125 is a conversation. Be prepared to talk, work problems, and ask questions. During lecture, I may select and call out student names from the roster.

• pre-MWF: Reading & Turing's Craft exercises
• MWF: Lectures
• Weekly: Lab/Discussion Sections
• Semi-weekly: Quiz Sections (short assessments)
• Programming ("MPs")
• Optional: Debug Your Brain and/or Honors Section

Important Dates:

• First day of class in Fall 2016: Monday, August 22, 2016
• Fall break: November 19 - November 27, 2016
• Last day of class: Wednesday, December 7
• Final exams: December 9-16 (do not schedule flights home until your last exam is known)
• Final exam for CS 125 will not be scheduled until about mid-November
• (we will announce dates, times and locations in class)
