Kinematics and dynamics of the three-dimensional motion of particles; kinematics and dynamics of the plane motion of rigid bodies; methods of work/energy and impulse/momentum; moving reference frames.
TAM 210 or TAM 211.
There is no required textbook for this class. However, theses texts are very useful
The total score for the course is computed with the following weights:
Computer-based Quizzes (PraireLearn)
Online Homework (PraireLearn)
Discussion worksheets
Lecture participation (iClicker)
Final Exam
40%
15%
10%
5%
30%
Retake quizzes: Optional retake quizzes are available in the week following each first-chance quiz. If you choose to take the retake quiz, the quiz score will be 90% of the higher scores + 10% of the lower score (0.9*max(first_chance_score, retake_score)+0.1*min(first_chance_score, retake_score)). If you do not take the first-chance-quiz, then your score will be 90% of the retake score.
Discussion: Students can drop one of the lowest discussion grades. Two scores are awarded for each discussion: (1) an attendance score, based on attendance and participation during discussion, and (2) a PrairieLearn score, given by the score in PrairieLearn for that discussion activity. The final score for each discussion section is the product of the attendance and PrairieLearn scores. This means you must both attend discussion in person and complete the PrairieLearn activity to receive full points.
Lecture attendance: Students can drop 6 lecture attendance grades (clicker).
Online Lecture (Section ONC): Lecture attendance does not contribute toward final grades. The percentages shown above will be increased proportionally (by dividing by 0.95) to make up for the lack of iclicker scores.
The total score s corresponds to final grades as follows.
| 97% ≤ s < 100% | A+ | 93% ≤ s < 97% | A | 90% ≤ s < 93% | A- |
| 87% ≤ s < 90% | B+ | 83% ≤ s < 87% | B | 80% ≤ s < 83% | B- |
| 77% ≤ s < 80% | C+ | 73% ≤ s < 77% | C | 70% ≤ s < 73% | C- |
| 67% ≤ s < 70% | D+ | 63% ≤ s < 67% | D | 60% ≤ s < 63% | D- |
| s < 60% | F |
