Exams

This course will have both computer exams and written exams. Exams 1, 3, and 5 will be written exams, conducted at a time and place specified below. Exams 2 and 4 will be computer exams, conducted at CBTF.

Exams will be closed-book, no calculator.

  • In-person exams: you can bring one page of handwritten notes, both sides

  • CBTF exams: you cannot bring a page of notes

Exam 1: Written

Exam 1 will be a written exam, held in lecture on February 16.

If you are unable to take the exam at the regular time because of a conflict related to your career, your health, or because you have three exams in a 24-hour period, send e-mail to cs440_ece448_conflict_exam_scheduling@lists.illinois.edu before the end of February 9 giving your reasons. A conflict exam will be scheduled at a date and time accessible to all students with conflicts judged to be valid.

Exam 2: CBTF

Exam 2 will be held at CBTF during the period between March 2 and March 4. You will need to register for an exam session.

  • The sample exam contains 4 problems from the quizzes, and 2 from MP1. It permits you to try each question as many times as you want.

  • The real exam will contain 3 problems from the quizzes, and 1 each from MP2, MP3, and MP4. It will permit you to try each question up to four times, with decreasing point totals on each attempt.

CBTF exams: No notes, no textbook

Exam 3: Written

Exam 3 will be a written exam, held in lecture on April 6. A sample exam will be posted here to show you what to expect.

A conflict exam will be scheduled at a date and time accessible to all students with conflicts judged to be valid.

Exam 4: CBTF

Exam 4 will be held at CBTF between April 20 and April 22. You will need to register for an exam session.

The exam will consist entirely of problems drawn from the online quizzes and from the machine problems.

Exam 5: Written Final Exam

Exam 5 will be a written final exam, held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 8:00-11:00am in Lincoln Hall Theater. A sample exam will be posted here to show you what to expect.
