Exams

Exams constutite 72% of the course grade. There will be 5 exams in total. Four non-cumulative exams, called midterms, will be held during class time. An optional cumulative final exam will be held according to the final exam schedule determined by the registrar. Each exam (midterm or final) will count for 18% of the final grade.

All exams will be closed-book (except reference sheets – see below), paper-based, and adminstered in class during the usual lecture time.

The will be no conflict exams. The exam-drop policy is there to accommodate for circumstances leading to extension requests. Please do not email the staff with any conflict exam requests.

Grading: Exam grades will be released on Gradescope. You may request a regrade within seven days of the date the grades were released.

Reference Sheets: During the midterm exams, you will be allowed a single-sided reference sheet (often called a cheat-sheet). The reference sheet must be a 8.5” × 11” paper (typically called letter sized paper) and must be hand-written. You will need to turn in the reference sheet along with your exam and must have your Net-ID written legibly in the top right corner.

Midterm Instructions

Exam Schedule:

  • 12:20 p.m. - Exam distribution begins. Ensure you have your exam by 12:30 p.m. Please arrive early to find your seat and settle in.
  • 12:30 p.m. - Exam writing starts. No questions or clarifications will be addressed unless extremely important. Refer to the exam for any questions.
  • 12:45 p.m. - Proctors will verify student IDs. Ensure you bring your ID. If you don’t have your ID, the proctor will mark “No ID” and their initials on your exam.
  • 1:30 p.m. - No turning in exams or leaving the auditorium within 15 minutes of the end time.
  • 1:45 p.m. - Stop writing and remain seated while proctors collect the exams. Make sure you turn in your cheat sheet with your exam. If you don’t have your ID, stay seated, and we will collect your exam at the end.

Seating Arrangement: Please sit leaving one seat between you and the next student to ensure proper spacing.
