Policies�

Late Policy�

To apply our late submission policy you must fill out this form within one week after the relevant due date. This form should be filled out per checkpoint.

Penalty�

Machine Project (MP) checkpoints and final submissions must be turned in by 11:59 pm on the due date. The following penalty will apply to late submissions:

  • A 10% penalty will be applied to the grade of any submission that is turned in during the first day after the due date.
  • A 30% penalty will be applied to the grade of any submission that is turned in during the second day after the due date.
  • A 60% penalty will be applied to the grade of any submission that is turned in during the third day after the due date.
  • Submissions turned in more than three days after the due date will not be accepted.

Additional Exceptions�

One chance will be given to submit one checkpoint of MP1, MP2, or MP3 up to 3 days late without ANY penalty. No exceptions will be made beyond this one chance regardless of the reason. This does not apply to MP4.

Grade Breakdown�

  • Attendance, quizzes, etc: 10%
  • 4 Machine Problems: 45%
    • MP1: 5%
    • MP2: 5%
    • MP3: 15%
    • MP4: 20%
  • Exams: 45%
    • Midterm exam 1: 10%
    • Midterm exam 2: 10%
    • Midterm exam 3: 10%
    • Final exam: 15%

Attendance�

  • Policies:
    • Two lectures can be missed without any point deduction.
    • After missing two, no exceptions will be made regarding points. However, if you have a serious medical issue AND are hospitalized, then you should send the professor proof of hospitalization. In this case, lectures missed during the hospitalization will not be counted against your attendance points.

Religious Observances�

Illinois law requires the University to reasonably accommodate its students' religious beliefs, observances, and practices in regard to admissions, class attendance, and the scheduling of examinations and work requirements. You should examine this syllabus at the beginning of the semester for potential conflicts between course deadlines and any of your religious observances. If a conflict exists, you should notify your instructor of the conflict and follow the procedure at https://odos.illinois.edu/community-of-care/resources/students/religious-observances/ to request appropriate accommodations. This should be done in the first two weeks of classes.

Academic Integrity�

Academic dishonesty may result in a failing grade. Every student is expected to review and abide by the Academic Integrity Policy: https://studentcode.illinois.edu/article1/part4/1-401/. Ignorance is not an excuse for any academic dishonesty. It is your responsibility to read this policy to avoid any misunderstanding. Do not hesitate to ask the instructor(s) if you are ever in doubt about what constitutes plagiarism, cheating, or any other breach of academic integrity.
