INFORMATION ABOUT COURSE SECTIONS
Lectures: Each instructor's lectures will be slightly different, but should cover the same basic material. The lecture notes that are posted below (on the course calendar) give an excellent overview of the material to be covered in that day's lecture. We encourage you to attend the lecture you are enrolled in. If you discover a lecture better suited for your schedule or the way you learn, we strongly encourage you to switch into that lecture, if possible.
The Mathematica Section: One of the ECE 329 sections will be taught using a Mathematica based approach introduced in Fall 2015 by Prof. D. Wasserman and further developed in Summer 2016 by Prof. E. Kudeki. This special section is explicitly marked in the above table. In addition to the regular homeworks, students in the Mathematica section will be required to submit weekly Mathematica homeworks that will count for 15% of the final grade (whereas the same 15% will come from three hour exams for students in non-Mathematica sections --- see the section on Grading Policy below).
Students should be aware of this difference between the Mathematica and non-Mathematica sections and enroll in a section that reflects their preferences regarding the grading policy.
The weekly Mathematica assignments will be posted on the Course Calendar as links to a collection of Mathematica notebooks. The notebooks from the calendar will be partially evaluated during class in the Mathematica sections and are to be completed after class and submitted via my.ece on the following Fridays at 1:00 p.m. No prior experience with Mathematica will be required from students chosing to take the Mathematica based sections. The focus will be on using basic Mathematica techniques for understanding/illustrating E&M, as opposed to using E&M to teach Mathematica. If you are new to Mathematica watch the following videos prior to starting your first Mathematica assignment: Notebooks Methods to Get Started Basic Calculations Basic Graphics Making Interactive Models
All engineering students have free access to Mathematica via Citrix remote server. In preparation to class the students taking the Mathematica sections should download and install the Citrix Receiver software on their mobile devices (laptop or tablet) from Citrix Download or Citrix Download for Linux and bring the device to class on days with Mathematica exercises as indicated by the Course Calendar. The TA Pablo Reyes (pmreyes2@illinois.edu) will be helping you with your Mathematica problems during his office hours and using the ECE329 piazza page. To enroll to ECE329 piazza use the following link : Enroll in piazza.
i>Clickers: All sections will use i>Clickers for recording class participation and for checking student understanding. Details for registering your i>Clicker are posted here. We will practice them during lecture 3 and begin recording attendance with lecture 4.

REGULAR HOMEWORK
Regular homework will be assigned on-line on this web page and collected on Tuesdays --- completed assignments should be dropped in the ECE 329 HW Drop-Box (#38 for noon, 39 for 1pm, 40 for 2pm) located on the 3rd floor of ECEB across the Undergrad Lounge by Tuesdays 6 PM. Box 37 will be used for exam re-grade requests. No late homework will be accepted (except when special permission is granted by your instructor before the due date). Questions about the HW can be posted to piazza. A TA will answer them within 12 hours. Enroll in piazza
MATHEMATICA HOMEWORK
Mathematica homework will be assigned on-line on this web page on Fridays and would be due the following Friday at 1 pm--- Students are expected to edit and submit every *.nb file using my.ece, after renaming the file using the following notation: "OriginalFilename_yourLastname_yourFirstname.nb", e.g. MP1_functions_plots_Ilie_Raluca.nb. File name without this notation will not be graded.
No late homework will be accepted (except when special permission is granted by your instructor before the due date). Questions about the HW can be posted to piazza. The Mathematica TA will answer them within 12 hours.
