  • Tried to understand the code we need to use for making our RFID module work.
  • Parts didn't arrive.

  • We are still waiting for most of our parts.
  • We have received RFID M1 tags required for our project.
  • Jerome is working on right design for automated locking system when the door is locked. He is also working on the code required for making the locking system work. 
  • Devarsh is working on a feature which will require use of either AND or OR gate. 
  • We have decided where we and how we will install our devices on a door.

11/7

  • Jerome and Kevin have completed working on the minimal prototype of the backside platform of our device.
  • We have not yet integrated the system with servo motor. Although, we have designed our current platform with the final design in mind.
  • For our backside platform we use a photocell circuit in order to effectively implement automated locking system.
  • We will be using environment's light to signal the photocell if the door is open or not.
  • Many of our parts have arrived now so we are soon beginning to work on the front platform that will verify user's RFID tag for which we will be using the RFID eval module from SPARK.
  • Our goal for presentation is to build the photocell circuit and most of the backside platform which effectively demonstrates our backside automated system mechanism.
  • We also figured out using an AND gate in the back side of the door for manually turning the motor and open the lock so that when the person is inside he/she is not locked by the system
  • We believe that using the front side will be much easier to work with once back side system is sorted out.
  • We have received an important sub component to make our front platform from Xbee. 
  • From next week on-wards we will also begin working on the front system.

  • Backside platform prototype is complete and functional.
  • We have received Xbee shield module for front side platform.
  • Our Arduino code for backside platform is complete.
  • We are still waiting for the barn door lock.
