Statement of Purpose
With the global pandemic going on, it has been difficult for students to feel motivated or stay focused on academic tasks and goals. The Desk Pet is designed to encourage a student to be as productive as possible, while also serving as a companion when the only option is to be isolated from others to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Background Research
This project addresses the problem of social isolation and a lack of concentration after staying in one place for a long period of time. Especially during a time like the COVID Pandemic, many people are yearning for social interaction and feel lackluster about getting tasks like homework done. Since the start of the Pandemic, productivity has decreased for a mass group of individuals. The Desk Pet will give reminders as well as motivation to help increase productivity as well as emotional well-being. Other projects we looked provided a simple desk pet, but our desk pet is specifically used to connect people to each other and share their achievements with one another.

Possible Challenges
Our main challenge that we assume we will run into is connecting our desk to a phone through Bluetooth.
Another challenge that we may run into is our lack of knowledge with CAD when building on skeleton for the desk pet.
