Regrades
We try to write questions with no errors and to grade with perfect accuracy. But, of course, we are only human. Mistakes happen and need to be corrected.
Stop and think first. You probably don't want to hear this, but you are probably misreading the prompt or misinterpreting the question. Read it again slowly. Check special cases which might behave in odd ways. Take a break and come back to it later. (This works better on homework, but you can do it somewhat even on exams.)
If it's still not making sense, talk to us at office hours or via email.
I disagree with how my question was graded
Try these steps, in order:
- Look at the grader comments, compare your answer to the model solution, and try to figure out what went wrong. At least, isolate the main differences between your answer and the model.
- Talk to us at office hours or via email.
- Procedure to report will be posted later in the semester before the first exam is returned.
Regrade requests must be filed within a week after we release the graded exam to you. If you were unable to submit it on time for some compelling reason (e.g. serious illness), include the details in your regrade request.
