We covered sections 4.10-4.14. Specifically
- variant ways to think about congruence mod k
- a sample proof using the definition of congruence mod k
- variant ways to think about arithmetic mod k
- some examples of arithmetic in Ak
Sections 5.1-5.4 were also on the readings for today. Those
are mostly basic definitions, assigned for today so that you
didn't have a mountain of stuff to read for next Tuesday.
Announcements
- As an experiment, we've posted the problems for discussion
section on piazza. Have a look at them before discussion, if
you have a chance. We're hoping this will make it easier to
participate and ask questions in discussion.
- Homework and quizzes due next week will be posted soon.
- The first honors homework should be posted soon. Watch
Piazza for announcements.
- A representative from the Linkete Society did a short ad
for their very new RSO. They're offering (free!) tutoring and
study group services for students. I'll post a pointer to
their web site when they get it up.
