CS173: Discrete Structures

Fall 2009   Margaret Fleck

Welcome to CS 173, Fall 2009!

First quiz: Wednesday the 16th of September, at the start of class. Skills list will be posted on the Exams subpage later this week. [Reminders of quizzes and exams will not normally be posted here. You should be coming to class and keeping an eye on the lectures schedule page and the newsgroup.]

The proficiency exam will be held 1-3pm on Saturday the 29th in 2405 Siebel. If you plan (or tentatively plan) to take this exam, please send email to Margaret Fleck (mfleck@cs.illinois.edu) so I know how many students to expect. If you aren't sure, browse the web pages for last spring's offering of this course, especially the lectures page, to check whether most of the content seems familiar. To pass the exam, you should know how to write simple proofs including inductive ones and show good grasp of most (but not necessarily all) the topics covered.

There will be no discussion sections the week of August 24th. Discussions start the week of August 31st. But notice that there will be no discussions the following week due to the Labor Day holiday.

Most course announcements will be posted on the class newsgroup. Subscribe now and read it frequently. Only a few, very critical, announcements will be posted on this main page.
