SE 498 CD1 - Control Co-Design

Subject offerings of new and developing areas of knowledge in Systems Engineering and Design intended to augment the existing curriculum. See Class Schedule or departmental course information for topics and prerequisites. Course Information: 1 to 4 undergraduate hours. 1 to 4 graduate hours.

Section Description

Prerequisites: One of these courses: SE 413, ECE 490, MATH 484, OR IE 510 AND One of these courses: SE 320, ME 360, ECE 486, ECE 515, OR ME 543 Application of engineering design optimization principles, optimal control, and systems thinking to the integrated design of actively controlled physical engineering systems. Principles of effective control co-design (CCD) problem formulation, time-domain model development, explicit management of physical phenomena and failure modes, optimal control via direct transcription, and application of CCD optimization to practical engineering design problems. Optional semester project (4-credit section).
