Subject offerings of new and developing areas of knowledge in engineering intended to augment the existing curriculum. See Class Schedule or college course information for topics and prerequisites. Course Information: Approved for both letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in the same or separate terms if topics vary.
Section Description
This course introduces students to design thinking and human-centered design (HCD) practice to enhance their effectiveness as leaders and changemakers in engineering settings. A design thinking approach to problem finding and opportunity recognition is valuable to the process of innovation and creating impact. This course engages students in design research to support projects in the WIE Impact Lab. Course section includes design research and solution prototyping to improve engineering internship experiences and professional development for women. Students will engage with stakeholders in Women in Engineering and Engineering Career Services and with corporate partners who recruit students from The Grainger College of Engineering.
