ENG 298 MEP - MEP Peer Mentoring

Subject offerings of new and developing areas of knowledge in engineering intended to augment the existing curriculum. See Class Schedule or college course information for topics and prerequisites. Course Information: Approved for both letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in the same or separate terms if topics vary.
Section Description
Students will explore fundamentals of leadership styles, characteristics, and practices applied to the peer mentoring experience in the MEP Mentoring Course (ENG 111). As part of the course experience, students will explore elements of service learning and servant leadership paradigms required for effective role-modeling and peer mentoring. This course will include optional travel to Jamaica to explore and reflect upon how leadership is exercised with a partner community organization. This course will consist of a selected readings and videos, class discussion, and reflective assignments designed to encourage exploration of the concept of leadership effective role-modeling.
