Students will learn, from an engineer?s point of view, the theory and practice behind safely operating a waterjet system to manufacture parts from sheet material. The curriculum covers the basic methods to design and manufacture parts via waterjet, using integrated OMAX CAD/CAM programming systems, and others. Students will develop the skills to design within machine limitations, adjust machine parameters to improve produced parts, and use secondary finishing tools to refine waterjet-cut parts. Students will also cut a test part within specified tolerances. This course is designed, in part, to help engineers understand manufacturability and processes involved in realizing their designs. Meeting dates will be arranged with instructor on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm for two weeks. Course takes place in the Engineering Senior Design Lab.
