Students will learn, from an engineer?s point of view, the theory and practice behind safely operating a 3-Axis CNC mill. This course expands on the tooling geometry, speed, and capabilities covered in the manual milling class, ENG 199 MM1, as well as part design, toolpath generation using CAD/CAM systems, machine navigation, and special tooling for CNC machines. Students will also mill several test parts within specified tolerances. This course is designed, in part, to help engineers understand manufacturability and processes involved in realizing their designs Prerequisite: ENG 199 MM1, Intro to Milling for Engineers. Meeting dates will be arranged with instructor. Meets Saturday from either 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm for 12 weeks. Course takes place in the Engineering Senior Design Lab.
