Section Description

Modern computer architecture and system design, including instruction-level parallelism, pipelining, out-of-order execution, branch prediction, memory hierarchies, multiprocessor systems, interconnects, I/O, and performance and reliability analysis. The course examines how architectural and microarchitectural techniques interact with operating systems, compilers, and emerging workloads, including AI and data-intensive applications. Students complete an open-ended final project exploring a topic in processor or computer systems design.
