ECE448 Artificial Intelligence, Spring 2026ΒΆ
Welcome to ECE 448, Spring 2026! This is intended as an overview course in Artificial Intelligence: Major topics in and directions of research in artificial intelligence: basic problem solving techniques, knowledge representation and computer inference, machine learning, natural language understanding, computer vision, robotics, and societal impacts. This course is cross-listed as CS 440. The course can be taken for 3 undergraduate hours, 3 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisites are CS 225, and one of CS 361, STAT 361, ECE 313, MATH 362, MATH 461, MATH 463, STAT 400 or BIOE 310.
Grade cutoffs are approximately 90% for A-, 80% for B-, 70% for C-, 60% for D-. For three-credit students, your grade for the semester is a weighted sum of component scores, with the following weights:
20%: Quizzes
25%: Machine problems
40%: Midterms
15%: Final
For four-credit students, your final grade will be the weighted combination of your three-credit grade (75%) plus your seminar grade (25%). The seminar grade is based on the proposal, oral presentation, and written presentation of your seminar project.
Extra credit will be given (up to 1%) for students who gain reputation points on CampusWire.
