Grading scheme:

Grading for ECE 210:
3 Midterm exams.................. 45%
Final Exam............................ 28%
Written HW........................... 15%
Labs...................................... 10%
Exam preparation quiz........... 1%
Exam camera setting 'lab'...... 1%

Grading for ECE 211:
1 Midterm exam.......... 35%
Exam 2 (final)............. 43%
Written HW................. 20%
Exam preparation quiz........... 1%
Exam camera setting 'lab'...... 1%

You can check your grades in Illinois Compass 2g
There is an entry there called "Final grade estimate" which will keep track of the percentage of the overall grade that you have accumulated. It will be quite low initially and will grow as more grades are added. It will help you know your location relative to the mean.

NOTE: we do not curve individal exams, we only apply the rough guideline below at the end of the semester.

As a rough guideline, we intend to award letter grades as indicated below, where 'm' is the mean and 's' is the standard deviation.

some type of A if

m+s < grade

some type of B or better if

m < grade < m+s

some type of C or better if

m-s < grade < m

(*)some type of D or better if

m-2s < grade < m-s

grade < m-2s

(*): NOTE: the D to F cutoff might be higher than m-2s if that value is too low.
