Wireless networking has changed the way we use the internet. From smart homes to automated manufacturing to connected cities, technology has finally brought us to the point where we can enable our dreams of ubiquitous wireless connectivity. But we are not entirely there yet. This class will explore the wireless networking technologies that will take us to the next level of connecting our devices to the world!

We will start off class by learning about wireless communication, from high throughput WiFi to low power BLE and LoRA, as well as others. We will then investigate interesting applications of wireless in the real world. This class includes a semester-long wireless project that makes use of diverse wireless technologies. Students will have access to multiple wireless platforms (e.g., arduino, Raspberry Pi, Nordic Thingy, Adafruit Feather, Particle Argon, BeagleBone), and multiple wireless technologies (e.g., WiFi, Bluetooth, BLE, LoRA, ZigBee, UWB).
