BIOE 498 PJ - Exprmnt Design & Optimization
Last offered Spring 2021
Official Description
Subject offerings of new and developing areas of knowledge in bioengineering intended to augment the existing curriculum. See Class Schedule or departmental course information for topics and prerequisites. Course Information: 1 to 4 undergraduate hours. 1 to 4 graduate hours. May be repeated in the same or separate terms if topics vary to a maximum of 12 hours, but no more than 8 in any one term.
Section Description
All engineers perform experiments. Whether they be ?wet-lab? or simulated,
experiments test the limits of our hypotheses and drive our understanding. Often
engineers want to go beyond validating their theories and models. Engineers want the
best designs ? the optimal combination of cost, reliability, performance, and usability.
This course presents a systematic framework for optimizing experiments and models.
Using both experimental data and computer simulations, students will explore methods
to efficiently search large design spaces.
